Celeberating Women's Month with Inspirational Women - Lemuelle Baya

Hey it's March! This is the month in which we celebrate women. Below are some amazing ladies that have contributed to the person I am today. Most of them are friends and colleagues. I acknowledge them for being great role models to me and to others. In this article they share with you. What has been their driving force? How they handle challenges? What lessons experience has taught them as Aspiring Ladies? Coming up with this article was not as easy as I had expected. I had to bug some of these ladies for days in order to get their responses to the questions listed above. I would say it was worth the bugging and the pestering because the result is empowering. I hope you take out something inspiring after reading about them. Meet Marion Kefie A business Analyst and a Quality assurance personnel for Panus Software - a tech company in Buea, Cameroon. Clear your Head, Take a Break and Try again - Lemuelle Baya

We sometimes find ourselves in a dead lock situation that we just can't seem to carry on with our work. This may happen in cases where your next task on the list is depended on the work you are to complete. You find yourself stock, confused, pressured and stressed out. We end up wasting a lot of time trying to fix that problem but it never seems to work. I have found myself a couple of times trapped by this unbearable feeling. As you begin the New Year and embark on your projects keep these helpful tips in mind when you are stock along the way. Take a Break! When we spend so much time trying to solve a particular problem continuously, we tend to narrow our thoughts and constrain our ability to see things differently because we are afraid of not getting it solved. When this happens it is a sign that you need to take a break. Do something different like playing a video game, taking a walk or watching your favourite show. The point is try to get your mind away from the pr...

3 Practical Ways to make your Goal Realistic and Become more Valuable to yourself - Lemuelle Baya

Goals! goals! goals! I have heard a lot of people talk about setting goals, how to set goals and the benefits of setting goals. A goal in its self is very specific but the results are mostly general because it helps us achieve something we desire. So if goals are meant to help us achieve our desires so why does it seem like we need to cast a spell to make it come to life. Is it  because they are not realistic? Or maybe we are bad magicians after all...LOL. A realistic goal is a goal that is achievable.  If you really want to achieve your goals and be truly satisfied with the results then it has to come from a place of self awareness. Goals are relative. We as individuals are unique so are our desires and goals. These points below will help you make any goal achievable or realistic. 1. Know who you are and what works for you Back then in high school, we had compulsory two hour after school for prep(studies). To be sincere I hated it because I felt cheated. I di...

How Girls Can Serve as Better Development Drivers in Their Society Using Technology - Lemuelle Baya

We live in an era where Technology has become the Trend. Most people can hardly go by their daily activities without using or experiencing one of the glories of technology. Technology is like the biggest thing right now and we are constantly looking for new opportunities to make it even bigger or better.  The question of how girls or ladies can serve as development drivers led to so many questions popping within my head. I began to ask myself questions like "what are the unique qualities or perculiarities of female engineers and technicians?, " "What are the advantages of having ladies in Engineering companies?", "what are the key roles female engineers and technicians play in the field of technology ", is there something missing in the field of technology given that the percentage of girls in Technology is on the the lower side of the scale?". Finding the answers to all these questions brought my consciousness to the fact that there ...

Empowering your self as a Tech Lady - Lemuelle Baya

International Women's Day hosted by WTM Buea Over my years of being a female Engineering student, I have come to realize one thing and That is Girl's in Tech never feel empowered. We always have these limiting believes I won't want to mention(you girls know what I mean). It's not our fault that we even have these limiting believes. Some of this believes are due to societal perception and Opinion of how ladies are supposed to behave,  their Career choices and their ambitions in general. When you finally break all these societal norms and choose to take a career path in engineering,  a field which is seen to be worthy of men,  you need to be extra ready for all the attention it will bring (most of which are negative). At one point I found my self wondering why I chose an engineering career because I was overwhelmed by the whole thing. If you are having these same thoughts going through your mind,  it's okay. I understand what you are going through. I re...
